1968年に写真家・東松照明自身が興した写研より出版された『サラーム・アレイコム』からちょうど10年後。雑誌・太陽のために訪れたアフガニスタンでの写真が、装いも新たに再登場。本書で収録された103枚の写真の内、『サラーム・アレイコム』と重複しているものは44枚、残りの59枚はすべて未発表の作品で占められている。編集内容も異なり、巻末には谷川晃一氏の文章「素顔の生活者ー「文脈」の中のアフガニスタン」が追記されている。
